Nothing says summer to me more than color, patterns, crazy hair, and a fresh face - I also took the scissors to my hair - shorter hair is so much easier to manage in super hot weather (plus about three inches of my hair were dead). I spent all last weekend prettying up my room, the pictures don't really show the whole thing so you'll have to take my word when I tell you that it is beautifully organized and arranged in a feminine and fresh way - it got me feeling all womanly and stuff!

Today I wasn't feeling particularly beautiful, been struggling with not seeing super fast results in my weight loss, and I was feeling all plumply and stuff. As soon as I realized that my inner dialogue was not positive I decided to consciously change it. I am so much more than my weight - I am a well thought-out and intricate creation of the same One who made all the beautiful things in this universe. My body simply houses my spirit and soul, and while I want to strive to take care of it, it should not be an obsession! What do you girls/guys do to change negative internal dialogue? I'd love to hear it, maybe pick up a thing or two from you!

I'm quite a private person when it comes to my family and relationships but I couldn't keep myself from sharing these pictures from our most recent retreat up north. Gosh this man makes me giddy! He really is proof that this verse is true "Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4

I get complimented most often on two things: my hair & my skin. I get lots of questions about how I keep my skin glowing and fresh, so I thought I'd write a quick blurb on the face situation.
  1. It all starts from within - I am super prone to breakouts/blackheads/whiteheads/etc. so it is really  important that I eat well, drink lots of water, supplement my diet as needed, and get at least 7 hours of sleep every night.
  2. Skin care - I actually don't use a face wash, instead I opt for a clean face cloth and water. Once a week I exfoliate with baking soda and then put on honey as face mask for about 3 minutes. I use a moisturizer with SPF and sometimes I use eye cream or a night cream. Recently I've started using a natural astringent to help when I feel my face is super oily.
  3. Make-up - I am a big fan of a natural glow, minimal look. My 5 must haves are:
  • Groomed brows - courtesy of my awesome eyebrow lady & a good brow pencil
  • Concealer - I have a trio concealer with a peach/salmon color, a super light yellow, and one that matches my skin color. I use the peach/salmon to neutralize any under-eye darkness, the yellow as a highlight on the top of my cheekbones, my brow bone, and the bridge of my nose, and finally I use the skin color to conceal any spots or blemishes.
  • Loose powder - this helps to keep my concealer in place and minimize any shine on my face.
  • Bronzer/Blush - I use these two interchangeably - sometimes alone, sometimes together. Either way, I try to only use as much as I need.
  • Lip balm - Lately I've been getting into the whole bold lip thing, but on most days you would find me rocking a natural lip.
So there you have it, this is my simple, fresh-face, glowy everyday look. It is a mix of healthy skin and some outside tricks!

I'm always looking for visually appealing quotes and sayings, so I figured I'd try making my own - feel free to share them!
